Do you have to re-read constantly? Do you frequently find yourself confused about what’s going on? Are you imagining yourself being right there with the characters and a part of the story? Do you care about the narrator as a person and how invested are you in their story?
I have not had to reread constantly and do not find myself constantly confused. When I read, especially with a good book like "The Fault in our Stars" I don't picture myself there, but I basically see it in my mind like a movie. I care about Hazel and don't want her to die because she is an awesome person.
